Last week in Boston- A proposed constitutional amendment to halt gay marriage is a step closer to making the 2008 Massachusetts ballot, but the governor-elect said Wednesday that the fight to preserve the state's unique same-sex marriage rights will continue.
About 8,000 same-sex couples have wed in Massachusetts since the Supreme Judicial Court ruled in 2003 that the state Constitution guarantees gays the right to marry. A few other states offer civil unions with similar rights for gay couples, but only Massachusetts allows gay marriage.
For Catholics, the Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God's values.
The key word here people is the word Sacrament and as a Catholic (not a great one I will add)I know that marriage is one of the 7 Sacraments, this is basic Knowledge. I'm also a regular visitor to Yahoo Catholic Chat 1. This is where most people like to get there point seen heard and discussed. Just some background historY for manY others who maY read this article.
Now the room I frequent has it's own little resident gaY man or should I saY homosexual?(martin6772@sbcglobal.net) and Yes he is Catholic and Yes he has been married twice, once to a woman and then later to a Irishman. Martin will openlY tell You this fact with pride. He also espouses hes right to take communion. Please tell me if I'm wrong... but since when did the Catholic Church allow those in sin to take Holy Communion? Martin seems to write his own rules when it comes to sin .
Martin You little twit get with the program :-
1: Being are practasing homosexual is a sin
2: Taking Holy Communion knowning this is a sin
3: Repeat! this is also a big no no
Martin You can't have it both waYs, start being a practasing Catholic instead of a practising homosexual.
This storY was written bY a Catholic white heterosexual woman.
